Trail Mix Time

Trail mix is a combination of dried fruit, grains, nuts and even chocolate developed as a snack to be taken along on outdoor hikes. It is considered an ideal snack food for hikes, because it is lightweight, easy to store, and nutritious, providing a quick boost from the carbohydrates in the dried fruit and/or granola, and sustained energy from the mono- and polyunsaturated fats in nuts.

I like having trail mix by my desk anytime. Whenever the craving for sweets or just wanting to munch on something comes, I just reach for them. I also like making my own trail mix. I find them better than the pre-packed ones. By making my own I get to choose the nuts/items that I enjoy. Good thing, there is a Bulk Barn in one of the malls nearby. Here's my favorite mix :

Unsalted Blanched Skinless Almonds
Unsalted Macadamia Nuts
Honey Roasted Peanuts
Raisins or Dried Cranberries - something sweet
Banana Chips - for something sweet
Roasted and Salted Cashew - for a bit of salt

Now I have more than enough for the week.
